Burroughs Scholars Program

Over $500,000 Awarded to Some of the Best & Brightest Scholars at Benedict College Since 2017-18!

Our graduates are prepared to be prudent risk managers, have a passion for lifelong learning, manage career changes and adjustments, and discern entrepreneurial opportunities based on the African American experience for the formation, expansion, and ownership of business enterprises.

In support of our strategic goal to expand opportunities for graduates coming from underserved areas, the Burroughs Scholars Program was created to empower and equip students attending HBCUs to compete in our global economy and become successful leaders in their respective fields.

The scholarship program was started in the 2017-18 academic year at the Tyrone Adam Burroughs School of Business and Entrepreneurship at Benedict College. Students who meet the rigorous requirements can receive $10,000 per year for three years to support their education and training.

Through participation in the Burroughs Scholarship Program, Burroughs Scholars:

  • Serve as ambassadors for the college on campus and in the community

  • Model high academic achievement and professionalism for their peers

  • Build leadership skills through their service as ambassadors for the business school and the college

  • Develop professional competencies through participation in experiential learning opportunities

  • Promote philanthropy

  • Contribute to their communities through service activities

  • Position themselves for prestigious post-graduate placement
